Breakfast with Santa
Following our usual Christmas tradition, the Buckner United Methodist Church held its annual “Breakfast with Santa” community event on Saturday, December 17, 2011.
What a joy it was to have the Fellowship Hall filled with children anxious for a pancake and sausage breakfast, Christmas music and family fun, and of course: a visit from Santa Claus! The children (and even a few adults) got the chance to sit on Santa’s lap while a memorable photo was taken to mark the occasion!
The sounds of Christmas songs from the great circulating accordion player added just the right touch of festivity as we shared the joy of Christ’s birth with family and friends from within and beyond the community.
Children at Christmas time are a true expression of God’s love and blessing, and never fail to remind us that we are all God’s children in our hearts.
Thanks to all who gathered to share in this annual event, and to Santa and Santa’s helper, the volunteers who cooked and served, our patient and talented photographer, our remarkable accordion player, and everyone who helped make this community event a success!
See you next year!

Baby Grace celebrated their fifth birthday on November 13 with a special worship service, potluck lunch, group picture and Open House! Buckner UMC members were joined by many special guests, including several Baby Grace families, team members from other Baby Grace programs, and District Superintendent Steve Cox. The last five years have been nothing less than a blessing for all involved, and we look forward to many more years of ministry at Buckner United Methodist Church.

Joyce Rhodes, representative from our church to the Community Services League, commonly referred to as the Buckner Food Pantry, reports that the number of families now being served is almost 3 times the amount served this time last year. As a result, there is an increased need for the amount of stocked items.
Among those items needed are:
Beans (all kinds)
Canned vegetables (except corn)
Spaghetti O's
Soups (mushroom, chicken, celery)
Jello
Pudding
Toilet paper
The items should be donated on Wednesday mornings or bring to church & leave in basket by east door.

As, I'm sure you are aware, we are in the process of filling 5 more buckets and this time they are being filled at the request of our District Superintendent to provide to the churches within our District (Heartland North & Pony Express) to furnish to the families who have suffered damage because of the recent flooding of the Missouri River. The goal, set by our superintendent, is 960 buckets.
